Hawes
Hill Court comprises 8 country houses and cottages carefully
converted from old farm buildings in part dating back to the 1750's.
Retaining old oak beams, local red brick with flint panels the conversion
is executed to the highest standards to create a sense of timelessness
and old-fashioned quality.
Set
in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of East Berkshire
and at the heart of the Thames Valley the communications both locally
and internationally are excellent. The town centres of Windsor, Ascot,
Maidenhead, Bracknell and Wokingham are all within 5-6 miles. The M4
at Maidenhead (junction 8/9) is 5 minutes away; Junction 6 on the M4
at Windsor is 7-10 minutes away; to the M3, Bagshot Junction, is 15
minutes as is the M25 at either Chertsey or it's junction with the M4.
The M40 at High Wycombe is 15-20 minutes. London Heathrow Airport is,
out of rush hour, a little over 15 minutes away up the M4. London Gatwick
and London Luton airports are both 45 - 60 minutes away. Mainline rail
stations at Maidenhead and Slough provide fast trains (14 - 18 mins)
to London Paddington and trains to London Waterloo take around 45 minutes
from Ascot or Bracknell. The nearest private airfield is at White Waltham
about 7 miles away and Booker Airfield High Wycombe) is 15 miles away.
Sporting
venues and International Sporting Events are all around and within easy
reach. ( see the section 'The Area' for more details and
links)
Royal Ascot; Henley Royal Regatta; Royal Windsor Horse Show;
International Polo; Wentworth; Carriage Driving Championships
are but a few of the international sporting events within a few miles
of Hawes Hill Court.
Polo at Guards Polo Club or Royal Berkshire Polo Club
are 10 and 5 minutes away respectively; Fifield Polo Club is 1.5 miles
and the area abounds with private polo grounds.
Horse Riding - Livery and competition yards along with
riding schools are all very close (half a mile upwards) and a network
of bridle paths provides for local horses and riders.
Horse Racing - Ascot's world famous racecourse is 6
miles away and Royal Windsor Race Course with it's evening meetings
is just 4 miles away.
Golf - Wentworth is the best known about 10 miles away
but numerous other golf courses are within a few miles, the closest
being less than 2 miles away.
Tennis - Clubs based in Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot
and Bracknell are very active and public courts are available at Holyport,
close to Bray about 3 miles away.
Real Tennis is played at Holyport, 3 miles away.
Cricket - the nearest local club is at Fifield about
a mile away but others abound and Bray Cricket Club is well known for
its annual clebrity cricket matches raising funds for charity.
Rugby - London Irish - runners up in the Premiership
Championship - play at Madejski Stadium in Reading (20 miles); Twickenham
the home of English rugby is 40 minutes; Strong local Rugby Clubs are
in Bracknell and Maidenhead (6 miles); thers are in Windsor and 3 based
near Reading.
Soccer - Reading Football Club, based at Madejski Stadium,
are 20 miles away and the immediate area to Hawes Hill Court has many
local soccer clubs and sides for all ages and abilities.
Boating - the Thames is within 3 miles with numerous
marinas and boatyards; sailing and windsurfing is available at Bray
lake (3 miles); lakes within 10-15 miles provide water ski, jet ski,
sailing and other water based activities.
Canoeing and Kayaking are available through clubs,
at Bray Lake and on the Thames which includes white-water kayaking at
some of the weirs.
Diving - there is a very active Diving School in Bracknell,
6 miles away
Fishing - The river Thames is 2-3 miles away and offers
excellent fishing. Fky fishing for trout on various lakes as close as
3 miles and coarse fishing on numerous lakes is within 2 miles. Sea
fishing from the South Coast is an hour's drive away.
Shooting - Local shooting syndicates are run nearby
and near Pangbourne, the other side of Reading, is a top quality shooting
school. Rifle shooting at Bisley is within easy reach and Maidenhead
has it's own small bore shooting club and range.
Leisure
Activities -
Windsor Forest is a mile away for walking or horseriding (with
permit) and this leads through to Windsor Great Park covering thousands
of acres including world famour Saville Gardens and Valley Gardens.
Education
- There are excellent schools at primary and scecondary level within
easy reach in both the state and private sector. Eton College (7 miles);
Wellington College (11 miles) Licensed Victuallers (5 miles) Lambrook
